How Ben Helps Clients Invest in Themselves
When choosing a therapist, most people are really trying to answer one question:
What’s it actually like to sit down and talk with this person?
Ben Smith’s approach to therapy is casual, down-to-earth, and conversational. Sessions focus on thoughtful, practical discussions, and humor often shows up along the way. Ben avoids vague questions, awkward exercises, or overly clinical language, keeping conversations natural and genuinely useful (a style that reflects how many people experience therapy at Evolve Counseling Services).
Ben doesn’t believe therapy has to feel tedious or complicated to be effective. His goal is for clients to feel comfortable, enjoy their sessions, and talk openly about what’s going on in their lives—without pressure or pretense. He uses modern, science-based approaches because they work, and because clients deserve to see meaningful progress without feeling like their time is being wasted.
Areas of Focus
Ben works with adults and adolescents dealing with nervousness, high stress, sadness, difficult breakups, personal loss, or feeling disconnected from others. Sometimes these struggles fall under anxiety or depression, and other times they’re simply part of navigating a demanding, modern life. Many clients come in with a specific concern in mind, while others just know something feels off and want help making sense of it.
For those who need flexibility, Ben also offers the option to meet through teletherapy, which allows clients to get support without adding more stress to an already busy schedule.
Experience and Background
Ben has been helping individuals work through life’s challenges since 2010. His background includes 20+ of experience across mentorship, treatment center leadership, community mental health, and private practice. He has also volunteered his professional skills within the Northern Colorado community, bringing a strong local perspective to his work with clients in and around Fort Collins.
He holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Counseling and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and continues to stay current with best practices so his approach remains relevant, practical, and effective.
A Personalized, Practical Approach
Ben offers a tailored counseling experience for everyday people facing anxiety, depression, and general life challenges. He values thoughtful conversation, practical insight, and genuine connection. Clients often describe sessions as feeling supportive and grounding—without being heavy or overwhelming.
For those who feel ready to move forward, scheduling an appointment is designed to be simple and low-pressure, making it easier to take that first step when the timing feels right.
