Therapy That Fits Your Life

Lindsey Phillips, LPC
“I work with adults and teens (16+) who are experiencing depression and/or anxiety. To put it in other terms, these are people who are feeling down, sad, unmotivated, numb, tired, and who worry quite a bit, can’t slow their thoughts, feel nervous much of the time, and can’t seem to relax. Sometimes, these feelings are created by a major life event like a job transition, a move, starting college, relationship problems, or some kind of loss. And sometimes, it’s not clear what caused the feelings, but you know you feel off.
I’ve worked in mental health since 2005, and I started working as a therapist in 2009. I’ve worked in many mental health settings including a residential treatment center, community mental health centers, an acute psychiatric hospital, and most recently, private practice. What I enjoy most about this field is witnessing the inspirational transformations people go through as they feel better and make positive changes in their lives.
Now, before we get too serious, I also need to say that I firmly believe therapy doesn’t have to be a stressful or painful experience. At times, we will laugh at ourselves and how ridiculous life can be. And, for those times when we discuss difficult topics, I’ll focus on making therapy as comfortable as possible by being supportive, nonjudgmental, and truly hearing you. The idea is that you’ll feel free to be yourself and say the things you need to say and even look forward to therapy every week.”
Ben Smith, LPC
“My sessions are casual and down-to-earth. I consider myself to have thoughtful, useful conversations with people and humor can often be a part of sessions. I, by and large, stay away from vague questions, unusual exercises, or stuffy, odd language that therapists can be known for.
Further, there is no reason that therapy needs to be tedious or overly difficult. I’d much rather my clients enjoy their time and feel able to talk about life worry-free. I am also committed to using modern, science-based practices because 1.) They are known to achieve results and 2.) I value your time highly, meaning what we do together needs to benefit you in a prompt and obvious way.
I often see adults or adolescents who are dealing with nervousness, intense stress, sadness, difficult break ups, personal loss, or difficultly connecting with others. Sometimes these symptoms constitute depression or anxiety, but often they are side effects of navigating a complex, modern life.
I have helped others in the mental health field since 2006 and have been working as a therapist since 2010. My experiences range from professional mentorship, treatment center leadership, community mental health, and private practice. I have also been known to volunteer my professional abilities in the Northern Colorado community. I possess a M.A. in Clinical Counseling, a B.S. in Psychology, and continually work to stay up to date as to best serve my clientele.”
